The iPhone is cheap to make claims iSuppli, the company that worked out the cost of the parts in an Xbox 360 and showed how expensive the PlayStation 3 was to make. Now it has costed Apple’s iPhone — without having one to take apart. And it reckons the margin is around 50%. [More at Guardian Unlimited]
A cell phone can be a fire hazard as this California man has discovered.
From Associated Press via LA Times: A cell phone apparently ignited in a man’s pocket and started a fire that burned his hotel room and caused severe burns over half his body, fire department officials said. [Read More]
Me: The make and model of the cell phone should be made known in the interest of public safety.

Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., unveiled the company’s highly anticipated iPhone today (9 January 2007), which marries the popular iPod music device with a cell phone and a handheld Internet device to create an all-in-one handheld product tailor made for the new digital media landscape. Of late I’ve been thinking a lot about the semicolon. Yes, semicolon the punctuation mark (a.k.a the “dot comma” or “comma dot” to some friends of mine).
I’m learning how to use it properly because it’s so sexy.
Code jockeys might disagree. In fact, they might just be sick of the semicolon as it is used to end most commands in C and C++.
This is my first posting to this blog in the brand new year, 2007.
I’ve been quietly saving money throughout 2006 for something; but it’s now no longer required. Maybe I’ll spend it on a Mitsubishi Evo 8 or something of that ilk. No, I’m not thinking of a BMW because I’m not a BMW fan-boy like someone I know; even though I used to drive one (my dad’s other car) a long time ago. Read the rest of this entry »
My left knee was injured after sustaining a knock while playing futsal some time in late 2003. It was more of a kick than a knock; but I don’t really remember, as in futsal, the pitch is small and everybody seems to be cluttering into each other most of the time.
I realised something was wrong only when the knee started swelling after the game, though not by much. I wrapped an ice pack around it to control the swelling. That was cold, very cold. The swelling subsided after a day or two and I thought that was the end of the matter. Read the rest of this entry »
Happy Birthday, Outrageous Pwincess.
A flash of my childhood struck me a little while ago when I was looking at this blog’s domain name. Nothing dramatic. But it was sweet enough to make me smile.
It was the memory of my late mother. The memory of her feeding the ducks that she bred as pets. A whole bunch of them; in the duck pen behind our house. From when they were baby ducks to when they were adult, quacking, ducks. Yes, they quack, quack and quack because none of them was Donald. Or Daisy.
But why ducks? We were not living in a village; Section 5 Petaling Jaya is NOT a village. I never asked my mother; so, I guess I’ll never know.
Finally, after much thought and consultation, with friends and enemies alike, I decided to register a domain name, hook up with some webhosting provider and start a blog.
Choosing a domain name was tough. Much to my dismay, all the good, cool, short and funky domain names that I can think of were gone. They were registered years ago (serves me right for ignoring the Internet for so long).
I, Famous Duck, therefore had no other choice but to register a domain incorporating my own name. So, FamousDuck.com was born.
