Life’s short. Get a divorce - Law firm advertisement
9 05 2007
An all-female Chicago law firm, specializing in divorce cases, advertised:
“Life’s short. Get a divorce.”
on a billboard showing close-ups of a woman’s and a man’s chests.

It drew some serious flak from certain quarters, including the Women’s Bar Association Of Illinois. Chicago City officials took the advertisement down after a week, not on moral grounds, but because the advertising company did not have a proper permit.
“They ripped our billboard down without due process. We own that art. I feel violated.” said lawyer Corri Fetman, whose law firm put up the advertisement (International Herald Tribune).
I agree; its a work of art.

This is really an attention grabbing ads … but will be a controverial one. Though who sees eye to eye will love it, those who don’t will rant on and on. Advertising is about getting attention, create interest, arouse desire and taking action. This ad definitely qualifies round 1.
And thanks for visiting my marketing and advertising blog. Hope to welcome you back soon.
What a great Ad! My comment: I laughed so hard I almost fell over! What an incredibly “insightful” slogan! I guess those divorce lawyers know! and the only people that will “get it” are those of us who are beyond “thrilled” to have their life back after divorcing the most awful person in the world! We’re the only one’s it makes sense to! I feel sorry for all those others who insist they are “trapped” in a terrible marriage and don’t have the guts to get out, or those poor pathetic people who are still heart-broken over their spouse leaving them … or the supposedly happily married people that think the ad is just rude and harsh! Did I say happily married people? My mistake, there is no such reality.
I think this is a great marketing program…ok edgy but people will remember this firm no? Sure some wont like it but if you are looking for a divorce lawyer you are already looking so this wont make you end your marriage. Besides most wont be able to meet someone like this in the pic Thanks Ted - http://nassaucountydivorcelawyers.com
